For a number of years, I designed and built homes alongside my husband. When exterior or interior walls are constructed, the framing lumber is usually nailed together while the wall is laid out flat on the floor. When it comes time to erect the wall, a chalk line tool is used to snap a line on the floor where the wall needs to go. In the studio, I wondered what would happen if I immersed the string in paint instead of chalk and snapped lines on the canvas. I loved the splattered effect! This painting is a diptych, with a canvas of 36x36" covered in snapped lines of orange over dark red, and another canvas above measuring 12x36". Both canvases are fogged over with a glaze of lavender, and the edges are a deep plum.
